New Year’s resolution: Land another Wheaties box.
Quote: “I like defense, because I’m the smallest one out there, plus I’m a girl and I’m tackling all the biggest guys.”
Spike may not play with girls, but the rest of Utah’s Jordan School District has no such option. Sam “Sweet Feet” Gordon, a modern-day Ice Box and one hell of a running back, first burst onto the scene in 2012. During that season, while playing against all-male counterparts, she racked up 35 touchdowns and 1,911 yards on 232 carries. Oh,yeah, she also tallied 65 solo tackles on the other side of the ball. She was just nine years old. After her dad uploaded her highlight reel to YouTube, talk show appearances and the cover of a Wheaties box beckoned, as did a Super Bowl invitation from Roger Goodell and a hangout with the U.S. Women’s national soccer team.
Fast forward to 2014. Standing 4 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 70 pounds, Gordon, who took last season off to focus on soccer, had a seamless return to the gridiron. In her first preseason game she had three carries for 84 yards and a score. She finished the season averaging a ridiculous 13 yards per carry, and racked up 15 touchdowns on the ground. I have found from experience that I often replay a prayer, with each replaying increasing the tenderness of my Savior’s grace.

Brothers and sisters, I am delighted to have this opportunity to speak with you. To those of you who are brand-new to Ricks College, we welcome you. To those of you who are returning, welcome back. We note with sadness that yesterday three of our students were involved in a tragic accident in Thayne, Wyoming. Two of the students were injured, and the life of one was taken. We express our condolences and love to the families and pray for the speedy recovery of those who were injured.
Since assuming my responsibilities as the president of Ricks College last summer, one of my points of emphasis has been the study and use of the scriptures. Those of you who are new to Ricks will note that at the beginning of today’s devotional assembly, Brother Bird asked you to hold up your scriptures. This is a new tradition we started at our first devotional last fall, and it is a tradition through which we will continue to encourage all students and faculty to consistently study and use the scriptures. As I am sure most of you recognize, the real significance of this tradition is not merely bringing and holding up your scriptures every Tuesday in devotional. Rather, this simple act is but a reminder and symbol of our collective appreciation for, desire to learn from, and commitment to consistently and conscientiously study the holy scriptures.
Today I hope to accomplish two objectives as I visit with you: (1) provide a doctrinal foundation for understanding the importance of studying the scriptures and (2) emphasize basic principles that can help each of us become more effective in our personal study of the scriptures. I pray for, I yearn for, and I invite the Spirit of the Lord to be with each of us today, that we may understand each other and truly be edified. …

The praise for this should also go to those who got the records ready for downloading and the skill of the LDS Tech team in having a flawless execution.
My second post on my blog was October 2012 on Family Indexing using Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
More disabled I’m becoming, the more important the use of voice recognition is also becoming to me. Praise should also go to these pioneers. I’m thankful to Heavenly Father for allowing this science be on the earth, as I needed it for work and now.
I used it for this ( just a note, on my new PC I had to turn off the Dictation Box going to Tools, Miscellaneous, and it’s at the bottom).
Volunteers were encouraged to submit a single batch of indexing or arbitration work, but many continued working throughout the day to submit more than 5.7 million records, another milestone for the second-highest record count in a single day.
